A Clear Channel for Healing

“What is shamanic healing?” Jenna asked, while I massaged her neck.

“It is an ancient form of healing, working in the spirit realm.” I say, stating as simple as I can. “For me, every act in life is sacred.”

I am so impressed by her response.

“So when you work in this way with your clients, they really don’t know what it is your doing? They just feel it?”

The majority of people who seek out massage therapy are looking for relief from physical ailments. However, the most effective healing, touches the emotional, mental, and spiritual as well. A person who comes in with depression, for example, finds relief in their emotional state when their body is worked on, leading to enhanced mental clarity and a possible renewed passion for life.

I admit, I am a skeptic when a person calls themselves a shaman or a healer.  I have been fortunate to be in the presence of powerful healers and they generally do not label themselves. It can be hard to distinguish genuine healer from the charlatan this day and age. I believe that Carlos Castaneda found this to be true:

“Beware of those who weep with realization, for they have realized nothing.” Carlos Castaneda

Where does a person turn for guidance when they feel their spirit is in need of healing?

It might take time and countless travels before finding a teacher or healer that can help, but it is worth the effort. A good spiritual guide is a facilitator who will help empower you and will be living a life in line with what they preach. The basic premise is before being able to heal anyone you have to be a clear channel.

As Dion Fortune points out so eloquently, you will need to find the path that resonates with you and have faith while staying committed to the process:

“No enunciation of the truth will ever be complete, no method of training will ever be suitable for all temperaments, no one can do more than mark out the little plot of infinity which he intends to cultivate, and thrust in the spade, trusting that the soil may eventually be fruitful and free from weeds so far as the bounds he has set himself extend.” Dion Fortune

True guides on your journey will teach some lessons you predictably will not want to face. They sometimes will leave you to find your own way in times of struggle. For some, that experience is jarring and can be a deterrent from doing the “work.”

Following the Shamanic path was the most natural for me. In a time of crisis, an apprenticeship seemed to fall in my lap, where an immense amount of healing transpired. Traveling to Peru and working with true healers advanced this process. Most recent, deep involvement with occult studies in the Qabalah has brought further clarity on balancing my nature.

Caring for the body is a natural occurrence during the healing process and thereafter. The vices you may have had, will dissipate and you may no longer feel the need to “fill the void” with things such as alcohol, food and media stimulation.

When asked for spiritual guidance from clients, my first questions are:

How are you taking care of your body with food and exercise?

Do you spend time in nature?

Are you tapping into creative avenues or passionate endeavors?

Looking at these questions and acting on change is the beginning of real healing. Coming in for frequent bodywork and tapping into the spirit realm with the intention of formulating shifts is how I can help guide you in the process.
